The Cooldown Cape is particularly ideal for the following dogs / in the following situations:
When using the COOLDOWN CAPES, combine it with an actively cooling cooling mat or a wet towel that the dog can lie on while waiting. Here the dog has the opportunity to freely choose whether, how long and how completely he wants to lie down on it. If it gets too cold for him, he can leave it and lie down somewhere else. Most dogs understand the principle quite quickly, because on warm days the dog naturally looks for a cool place in the shade or inside the apartment, for example on tiles, to cool down.
The fabric consists of robust polyester threads that are vapor-coated with an aluminum coating.

- When purchasing, make sure not to order the cape too small. The cape should lie loosely on the fur so that it is not compressed and its heat-regulating function is lost.

“How it works” - COOLDOWN CAPE vs. cooling vest
- The COOLDOWN CAPE cools the dog passively, as the radiation reflection reliably protects the dog from the sun's rays! This prevents heating up. There is no active “cooling down” so that the dog can never get too cold! The advantage over active cooling jackets: Prevention of hypothermia diseases such as rheumatism or osteoarthritis. This also prevents the sensitive back muscles from cooling down.
- Cooling vests, on the other hand, actively cool the dog. This must be placed in water before use so that the material is soaked, which is why it is very heavy. The wet cooling vest is put on the dog. When it gets warm, the liquid stored in the granules or material evaporates. Evaporative cooling occurs. The disadvantage here is that the dog cannot tell when it is too cold for him. Too much cold can be very uncomfortable, especially on the back, and can lead to muscle tension. Active cooling vests are also extremely heavy. The dog's muscles are actively cooled down, which can lead to an increased risk of injury during sporting activities. In long-haired dogs with a lot of undercoat, there is also the possibility that the layer of air in the fur completely prevents the cooling effect and even the opposite effect occurs.

Our tip

Here the dog has the opportunity to freely choose whether, how long and how completely he wants to lie down on it. If it gets too cold for him, he can leave it and lie down somewhere else. - For an optimal result, the COOLDOWN CAPE should be placed on the dog that has NOT yet heated up, or the already heated dog should be cooled down with a little water.
